What do I wish other women knew about multiple orgasms?

What do I wish other women knew about multiple orgasms?

Published March 28, 2026

When I first heard the term ‘multiple orgasms’, I wondered what that meant.  I can’t remember how old I was – probably my late teens. I don’t think I was even consciously aware of what an orgasm was at the time – let alone multiple orgasms. I knew I experienced pleasure through physical connection with two of my peers from a young age but had no idea that what I was experiencing then was what I now know to be an orgasm.

When I finally worked out that multiple orgasms meant one orgasm after another (and another and so on) and not some weird and wacky ‘stack of orgasms’… some real fun followed.

It took being part of the Bodysex Experience Program to learn how to get on board and ride the waves that brought about multiple orgasms… and I’ve enjoyed the experience, in so many different ways, since then. One specific thing, that took me a while to understand, was that the physical experience of what I called “the shudders” was actually my autonomic system responding to pleasure and NOT multiple orgasms.

Along the way, I also learnt that I experienced each of my multiple orgasms differently… that sometimes it’s easier than others to orgasm and continue to journey through more orgasms than others. I now know the importance of not getting fixated on achieving orgasm or multiple orgasms. Sexual experiences – solo or with a partner – will always be pleasurable and may not always result in an orgasm. Giving myself enough time in an undisturbed, comfortable place when masturbating will definitely help achieve my first and many subsequent orgasms. And when it comes to partner sex, well that requires the kind of conversations that have taken a long time for me to be brave enough to have, and to find the best fit words to express what I’m feeling and ask for what I want. That definitely shows up as part of self-love piece that is fundamental to Bodysex. With increased self-love, being kinder to myself and believing I deserve pleasure with others, it’s become much easier to speak about what I enjoy in a way that others who care (read ‘a sex partner’) can hear more easily, more readily.

Depending on the day, the weather – yes sunshine makes me feel free and the cold makes me want to stay in bed (and masturbate) – my general well-being, among other things, can all have an impact of how fast I come the first time when I start masturbating. Often there is a quick tension release orgasm. Pleasurable and reasonably easy to achieve in the best of circumstances. For me, multiple orgasms definitely build and ultimately finish with me folding my body in on itself in ecstasy, before arching back and leaning to my left (yes, that’s very specific and the same every time), breathing heavily and finding contentment and relaxation. The more the orgasms, the more pleasurable and the more relaxed I end up being as a result.

So, with time and space and a commitment to self-love and independent orgasms, using my preferred vibrators (air pulse vibes are my current favourites) and a glass dildo or Betty’s Barbell (medical grade stainless steel with a weight that makes a remarkable difference on so many levels) multiple orgasms are a daily practice. They work as motivation and relaxation as needs be.

May your journey to multiple orgasms be a fun and interesting exploration of pleasure… if you’re already there, I invite you to ask yourself, “What more might be possible?”
